Who should have rhinoplasty surgery?
People who have dangled tip of nose or thick/large nose tip or a nose that is large for the face or a nose with large nostrils, or people with hook nose or people who have very large nose when seen from the front, or people who have skewed nose, or people who had rhinoplasty surgery before but still have a distorted nose, or people who have a asymmetric nose due to an accident, or people whose nose doesn’t function properly.
Rhinoplasty surgery usually takes 1,5 2 hours. During the surgery skin, bone and cartilage structures of the nose are separated. Reshaping process of the nose varies according to the existing problem and the technique used by the surgeon. At the end of the surgery the skin would be redraped over the structure of the reshaped nose. After the surgery a plaster splint would be applied to preserve the new shape of the nose. In order to fixed the nasal septum (the partition that separates the air ways of the nose) pads or soft plastic devices can be placed inside the nose.
After the Surgery
You will feel your face is swollen for the first 24 hours after the surgery. Your nose can hurt or you may feel a mild headache. Any discomfort you may feel after the surgery can be controlled by the prescribed pain killers. Except for the need to use the bathroom you should remain in the bed with pillows under your head. You will notice that bruises around your eyes and the swelling will be most apparent around 2-3 days after surgery. Applying cold compress may help to reduce the swelling. Most of the bruises and swelling will disappear after week. Very few swellings that only you and your surgeon can notice may remain for a couple weeks.
